Historic Preservation

Bay City has three historic districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places, exhibiting some of the finest examples of architecture in the state. The Planning & Zoning Department is responsible for historic preservation efforts in Bay City. Historic district staff responsibilities include:

  • Providing information on the city's historic districts
  • Review of building permit applications for property within historic districts
  • Assistance with applications for work in historic districts
  • Assistance with historic district regulations
