Principal Residence Exemption

This exemption is for homeowners that occupy their home. Taxpayers can only receive one exemption in the State of Michigan. If you qualify for this exemption, your summer tax bill has information that states “Principal Residence Exemption Has Reduced Bill By = $X.XX” This amount indicates the amount your taxes have been reduced due to a Principal Residence Exemption pursuant to Proposal A.
