About Patrol Operations

The Patrol Operations Division is overseen by a captain and consists of two platoons and the canine unit. 

Platoon Hours


Platoon hours and staffing are as follows:
  • First Platoon (6am to 6pm)
    • 1 lieutenant
    • 2 sergeants 
    • 2 corporals/accident investigators
    • 8 public safety officers
  • Second Platoon (6pm to 6am)
    • 1 lieutenant 
    • 2 sergeants
    • 12 public safety officers

Special Duty Officers


There are two special duty officers with the rank of corporal/accident investigator; both are assigned to first platoon with traffic enforcement as their priority.  The corporals are responsible for the investigation of fatal traffic accidents, hit and run accidents, and property damage accidents. They also maintain and deploy the speed trailers.  

Canine Unit

The department's first police Canine Unit began in September 2020.  The Canine  Unit consists of a corporal/canine handler and K9 Loki who is certified in narcotics detection, tracking, and article searches.
