For the purpose of responding to calls for service, the City of Bay City has been divided into four geographical areas called districts.

Educational Fire Safety Programs

As another way to protect the lives and property of our community, which is the department's primary function, the Fire Operations Division also responds to medical emergencies.

Members of the Fire Operations Division are also trained and equipped to provide emergency rescue services for the community.

Fire Administration provides all fire department units and offices with management, training, and clerical support.

The primary function of the fire service is the protection of lives and property, and the best way to do this is through fire prevention.

The fire marshal carries out the division's fire prevention activities.

Copies of fire reports are available under the Freedom of Information Act.

Fire Suppression
The Fire Operations Division provides the community with firefighting services, emergency medical services, emergency rescues, and responses to chemical emergencies.

Regional Response Team
Responding to spills or releases of dangerous chemicals or hazardous materials is also a function of the Fire Operations Division.
