High quality raw water is purchased and supplied by the Saginaw-Midland Municipal Water Supply Corporation. This raw water is drawn from Lake Huron and screened to eliminate debris and fish. The water is chlorinated to kill harmful bacteria and then it travels approximately 50 miles to the Bay Area Water Treatment Plant for processing. Once at the water plant, chemicals are added to the raw water to further purify and disinfect it. Before, during, and after treatment thousands of tests are ran to make sure Federal and State regulations are met.
