Bay City's yard waste program runs from April through November each year, with compost materials collected weekly on regular trash pickup days.
Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings and vegetative debris from city residences.
Yard waste must be placed in kraft yard bags or in a 32-gallon or smaller container with handles that is marked Yard Waste Only and weighing no greater than 40 pounds when filled. City crews will not collect yard waste material placed into plastic bags, cardboard boxes, grocery bags or other unapproved containers.
Trash such as cans, glass, plastic and paper products, including food or animal waste, is not to be included with yard waste.
Kraft paper bags may be purchased at local retail and hardware stores.
Compost is available for purchase through the City of Bay City (April-October). Pre-payment is required at the City Service Building, 800 South Water Street.
Fees are as follows:
$12.50 per yard, loaded by the city
$5 per yard, self-load
$5 commercial rate (50+ yards) per yard, loaded by the city
Delivery charge: $35 residential, per small load or $55 commercial, per large load (3 yards or greater)
