Bay City Government Offices closing to the public Tuesday, March 17

MARCH 16, 2020 BAY CITY, MI – Beginning Tuesday, March 17, the City of Bay City is closing all City facilities to the public in an abundance of caution for the spread of coronavirus. Employees will continue reporting to work Monday - Thursday. 

The closure includes City Hall, 301 Washington Avenue, and Electric, 900 S. Water, Wastewater Treatment Plant, 2905 N. Water Street. The closings are planned to last until 8:00 a.m. Monday, April 6. The law office of Allsopp, Wackerly & Blossom, located on the first floor of City Hall, is also following the same schedule. City administration will re-evaluate the situation at that time to determine if the closing should be extended.

During this time, City employees will report to work as scheduled and all essential services, including recycling, sanitation collection, electric operations and public safety, will continue as normal.

Citizens are advised to use online options, pay-by-phone 1-877-885-7968, or the payment drop box located alongside City Hall for all payments. Visit www.baycitymi.org for information regarding payment options. No utilities will be shut at this time unless an emergency occurs. Citizens are responsible for making payments and any accrued fees and penalties. Questions regarding utility bills call 989-894-8104, Monday thru Thursday.

For residents requiring immediate attention, citizens are asked to call 989-894-8200, they will have the option to select a department and speak directly with a department representative.

During this time all city-managed meetings and events will be canceled.

“This is necessary to protect our employees, our citizens, and overall public health,” said City Manager Dana Muscott. “We are working closely with all employees to ensure essential city services will continue; however, we are using extreme caution. I know this will be a challenging time, but we’re doing this to keep the public and City staff safe and healthy.”
