BAY COUNTY BUSINESSES ENCOURAGED TO FLUSH WATER PIPES BEFORE RESUMING OPERATIONS

BAY CITY, MICH., MAY 15, 2020 - As businesses prepare to reopen following the “Stay home. Stay safe.” executive order, the Bay Area Water Treatment Plant and the City of Bay City are sharing this reminder about flushing water pipes.

When not in regular use, water stagnation can occur, leading to water quality deterioration that may be associated with public health risks. To decrease possible elevated exposure to lead, copper, bacteria, and other potential health issues, businesses and property managers are encouraged to flush their water pipes, much like a homeowner would do when water service is restored after being vacant for extended time, or how a school would proceed before resuming classes after summer vacation.

Bay City residents and businesses with questions related to Water Distribution are encouraged to call 989-894-8321.
