BAY CITY, MICH. - The City is resurfacing Marquette Avenue between E. Hart Street and Transit Street with work scheduled to begin August 9th. Work includes:
The project will be constructed in two phases to ease impacts to residents and businesses. Phase 1 extends from Transit Street to Martin Street. Phase 2 extends from Martin to E. Hart Street.
The first 1-2 weeks will consist of concrete curb and sidewalk work, and traffic will be maintained with single lane closures with flagging operations. After the concrete operations, the street will be detoured, and the contractor will remove the pavement, grade the base, and resurface with the asphalt base course on the first phase. The second phase will include the same operations. After the base course on phase 2 is paved, the contractor will pave the top course of asphalt and apply pavement markings.
The project is scheduled to begin August 9, and continue through September.
Trash pick-up will remain unchanged until further notice. However, the time of the pick-up may vary. Be sure to have your trash receptacles out for pick-up by 7:00 am.
Shaw Contracting will be the Contractor on this project, with a contract price of $540,130. The project is being funded by a Transportation Economic Development Category F Grant through MDOT and the Marquette Street TIFA District.
