Recycling Spotlight
No Plastic Bags in the recycling bin!

Plastics bags are NOT accepted for recycling
(neither are cords, hoses, or wires)

Here’s Why: The recycling sorting process is high tech and automated. These items get tangled around equipment, causing jams that require hours of manual removal of the items each day.

What to do Instead:

  • avoid shopping bags all together for single items or items that can be carried by hand
  • use reusable shopping bags
  • ask for paper bags, as these can be recycled
  • take plastic shopping bags back to retail stores for recycling and deposit them into collection bins in entrance ways or at customer service areas

Curbside recycling is available to all utility customers within the City of Bay City

You can recycle items such as glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and containers, steel and aluminum cans, paper drink cartons, cardboard, newspaper, junk mail and more. Download our recycling guidelines at baycityrecycles.org for a complete list.

Need a new or Extra Recycling Bin?

18-gallon recycling bins are available from the Sanitation Department in City Hall,
301 Washington Avenue, Suite 413. Or call 989-894-8312.
