1. What will I need to get a building permit?

• Detailed drawings of the proposed construction. The drawing should include: site plan, foundation plan, floor plans, elevations and wall section showing basic materials and methods of construction.
• An application from the Building Code Enforcement Department.
• The proper fee.

2. What don’t I need a building permit for?

Siding, exchange of same size doors and windows, landscaping, paving your drive and an accessory building of 200 square feet or less.

3. How much is a building permit?

Building permit fees are based on the cost of construction.

4. How long will it take to get my building permit?

If all the required elements are submitted with a completed building permit application and the appropriate fee, it normally takes a day or two. Projects requiring a written plan review will take approximately two weeks.
