Sergeant Eric Sporman has been with the Bay City Department of Public Safety (BCDPS) since 2000. He attended John Glenn High School and earned his Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from Saginaw Valley State University in 1999.
He began working as a police officer for the Bay City Police Department and assigned to the Patrol Operations Division from 2000 to 2015. In 2012, the Department of Public Safety was created, merging the Bay City Police and Fire Departments into one combined Department of Public Safety. Sergeant Sporman attended the Bay County Fire Academy in 2013 and obtained Firefighter I and II certifications from the State of Michigan. In 2015, Sergeant Sporman was assigned to the Community Policing Unit. During his career, he was involved in the Field Training Officer program as a trainer and Defensive Tactics Training. He obtained Company Officer I and II in 2019. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2020.
